A Simple Invention For Your Cheap Whiskey That Makes It Taste Expensive

Customize your Whiskey in 24 hours
Customize your Whiskey in 24 hours
Portland-based company Whiskey Elements has created a simple tool that makes cheap whiskey taste deliciously oak-aged in just 24 hours.

Discovering a fine whiskey is distinguished from a cheap one by two elements: time and oak, they named their product after that.

Each piece of the product is a wooden oak stick that has ridges that allow the whiskey to be absorbed by the oak at a quicker rate.

The creators of this item call this "accelerated transpiration through capillary action", where the whiskey will then be aged perfectly while in the bottle.

The project is currently in its Kickstarter stage. For more information, visit their Kickstarter page

KKK stunt in Australia veil protest

Three men, one of them wearing a Ku Klux Klan (KKK) outfit, have tried to enter Parliament House in Canberra.
The men are reportedly calling for a nationwide ban on the full-face Islamic veil.
One of the three was wearing a motorbike helmet and the third had donned a Muslim niqab.
Earlier this month, parliament said anyone visiting the building with their face covered would have to sit in a separate area of the public gallery.
That ruling, subsequently overturned, sparked intense national debate about the Islamic veil and about possible discrimination against Muslim women.
The three men were met by a security official outside the building on Monday morning, who told them they could not enter parliament wearing a helmet or a KKK hood.
Local media have named the men as Sergio Redegalli, Nick Folkes and Victor Waterson.
Their protest movement “Faceless” reportedly opposes burkas or niqabs being worn in public spaces and claims Islam’s “political ideology” is “contrary” to Australian beliefs.
Security fears
“It seems that you’re allowed to wear a full-face covering into Parliament if you’re a Muslim woman, but no other group is allowed to have that same privilege,” Mr Redegalli told local media.
“We, as males, are not allowed to wear any face coverings in Parliament House.”
Under Parliament House security rules, Muslim women wearing a burka or niqab are allowed inside once they have shown their face at the normal security checkpoint.
Niqabs are full-length garments where only the eyes are visible and burkas are also full-length but no part of the face can be seen.

Muslims make up about 2% of Australia’s population

Sheep munch through £4,000 of cannabis plants dumped in their field

high sheep
A flock of sheep were left feeling rather woolly-headed after accidentally munching on thousands of pounds worth of cannabis plants.
The animals began stumbling about after getting high on seven bags of the intoxicating plant, which had been dumped in their field.
Police won’t be taking action against the sheep for tucking into their illegal meal, but are determined to catch the “irresponsible” crooks who grew and discarded the class B drug.
The £4,000 hoard of cannabis plants, each about 3ft tall, was found by the flock at the edge of Fanny’s Farm in Merstham, Surrey.
Farm shop manager Nellie Budd said: "My sheep being inquisitive had an interesting feast on it. They weren't quite on their backs with legs in the air but they probably had the munchies. They haven't had any other side effects but I'll tell you about the meat next week. At first I thought it was someone's hedgerow rubbish. I went down to collect the bags so the sheep weren't eating black plastic."

'Robin Hood' Banker Jailed for Fraud

A former bank executive who was said to have "Robin Hood" mentality has been sentenced to 41 months in federal prison for taking money from some accounts and repaying others, as well as pocketing some of the money for himself.
The judge at Friday's sentencing hearing also ordered Thomas J. Mariotti, 37, to repay more than $691,000 to his former employer and to Tall Oaks Country Club, one of the affected accounts. Mariotti will remain free on bond until he surrenders himself to prison officials next month.
A psychologist who testified at the sentencing hearing said Mariotti had a "Robin Hood" mentality because he took money from the bank to help support bad loans he had made. In one case, he paid off a $45,000 loan, said his attorney, Ron Hamm.
In June, Mariotti waived indictment and pleaded guilty to one count of bank fraud.

Woman accused of frying pan assault

Police have charged a woman with aggravated domestic assault. The aggravating factor? A frying pan. Neighbors called police after hearing a woman screaming as she ran down a street early Sunday.
Police said Jennifer LeeAnn Simoneau, 24, told them her boyfriend had shoved her into a glass table, but she had no visible injuries.
Investigators said her boyfriend Robert Eugene Davis was found bleeding from several cuts on his face and arms and he told police Simonseau had attacked him with a frying pan.
Davis' 11-year-old daughter told police that after the attack on her dad ended, he ran from the house. She said her mother dragged her by the hair to a bedroom.
That got Simoneau a citation for domestic assault on a minor. The arresting officer reported Simoneau appeared to be drunk.

Vietnamese Government loses $8,000,000 to Football Bets

Sports gambling has become a huge problem in Vietnam, but this might be the worst case yet. Various Government officials and civil servants had gambled aid funding on bets of mainly European Football matches.

The end losses? An estimated $8,197,485 in government funds.

Both President Tran Duc Luong and Prime Minister Phan Van Khai are expected to retire after Vietnam’s 10 National Congress ends on Tuesday, October 30th.

The whole scandal was revealed when a gambler named Bui Tien Dung, who was also a former part of the Ministry of Transport, confessed. Another Transport Minister Dao Dinh Binh resigned two weeks ago due to gambling problems as well.

Since then, a computer office log was found to have 200 Ministry of Transport employees waging government funds. Mr. Dung even had $11,477,838 in savings from all of this before he was jailed.

Mr Dick Head

A British bank had to apologise to a customer after they sent him a debit card bearing the name "Mr Dick Head". Very embarrassingly for the card owner, he did not spot the mistake until he tried to buy something at a supermarket.
